The very first line, and already we have an inside joke! The "last comic" mentioned here was a short parody of Jurassic Park I created in which bug-eyed brain people from the distant future decide to bring humans back from extinction. That's why the two characters pictured here bear such a striking resemblance to Sam Neill and Laura Dern. Anyway, the bug-eyed brain people did such a fantastic job in that comic, I cast them as alien beings from the planet Medieva for this story. Medieva is right up there with Gobotron as far as bad planet names go. It was one of those eternal working names that never got replaced by anything more creative.

This is more-or-less the Starfox base design, and Planet Corneria comes straight from the video game as well. So basically, the StarEthan crew moved in, kicked the animals out on their ears, and took over their command center.

It's good to see that VCRs don't go out of style in a thousand years, not to mention big, boxy TVs!

The next few frames may appear confusing, so here's the deal. Windshield sequences like this one suggest the point of view of only one pilot: in this case, Ethan. In the lower left corner are LCD images of whoever is making a communication, including Ethan himself. This sequence does not skip from plane to plane; everything that is happening outside the windshield is happening outside Ethan's windshield.
